About Laura.
I started acting professionally when I was young, and I’ve spent most of my life telling stories in one form or another: onstage, on camera, in comedy clubs, and eventually as a director.
I’ve been lucky to work with some really good filmmakers along the way. I’ll spare you the IMDB list. What mattered more was getting to watch people who are very good at this do it up close.
Eventually I started making my own films. They’ve won awards and played programs in the U.S. and abroad, including Oscar-qualifying festivals.
From there, I started pursuing television directing, shadowing directors on network shows and learning the job firsthand. I was selected for the Ryan Murphy Half Initiative and Sundance Collab’s Directing for Television program, which expanded that education and connected me with directors, producers, and executives I continue to learn from today.
I’ve spent a long time studying performance from many different seats. I think that makes me pretty useful in the room.
